We have been specially trained to treat patients of all ages. Why not save yourself the time and energy from running between dentists’ offices and have your whole family treated in one friendly and easy to get to practice in Canton, OH? Henzel Smith Family Dentistry is not just a dental practice that has been taking care of patients from Canton, Massillon, North Canton, Greentown, and surrounding areas for years; it is a family. Each of our patients is thought of as an extension of our family and treated with compassion and genuine care.
We like to work together with parents, children, and even grandparents to set great examples for each other and encourage healthy smiles. It’s never too early to start setting the groundwork for good oral hygiene habits!
Regular dental examinations at least twice a year are recommended by the American Dental Association for children and adults of all ages. During your examination, the dentist will check each tooth and the surrounding tissues including your gums, tongue, and cheeks. By doing this, the dentist will inspect every tooth for cavities, assess plaque levels to determine if gum disease is present, and look for any damages, like a broken tooth. We also will provide oral cancer examinations and examine your temporomandibular joint, or TMJ. This will allow us to create a personalized treatment plan just for you.
To ensure that your teeth and supporting structures are healthy, our staff may take a complete set of oral X-ray images during your initial visit. This allows us to diagnose cavities, identify any pre-existing bone loss, and check for any abnormal lesions. Radiographs are not mandatory, but are highly recommended once a year and before certain dental procedures.
Our plan of action will be thoroughly explained to you so a clear understanding is reached before any dental work is started. It is important to us that our patients know what the finish line looks like and what we can do to get there.
